Harvard close D look like interchangeable parts they all tall, lean, athletic and handle the ball well. Junior Dan DiMaria is probably the Nike Air Max Uptempo 97 Release Date

best on ball. His play of the day came when he caught Loyola attackman Will Fredericks shot and took off the other way, leading a break that ended in Nike Uptempo Ebay Uk

Loyola is going to be good running the field this season. Longstick middie Scott Ratliff likes to get the ball Nike Air More Uptempo Navy Orange off the ground up the field, shorstick d middie Josh Hawkins is comfortable with the ball in his stick and is good making moves when entering the box, looking to shoot or move the ball.

Three new contributorss stood out for the Greyhounds. Sophomore attackman Will Fredericks is showing more comfort with the ball, can shoot, move make plays and is more than just a 6 4 frame. Freshman defenseman Joe Fletcher is a sneaky, crafty player that got a lot of time he made a nice play on a groundball, goosing it to himself and jumping around the Harvard who was going for the ball. And freshman shortstick d middie Pat Laconi looks like one of those tough, bulldog types who will fill a slot by being able to stay in front of his man.

a Crimson shot. Junior Paul Pate, who more of an off ball guy, and sophomore Jason Gonos, who similar to DiMaria but has caught onto the defensive principles better in his second year (despite a whole new defensive scheme in Cambridge), will help form a staunch unit, and senior Sam Steyer looks like he could help provide some good depth.

Harvard got really good play from senior attackman Matt Hull, who unofficially had three on the afternoon. He did a good job finding space right in front of the crease and posting up on the right side on GLE. Senior attackman Dean Gibbons found him alone on the crease in the first, and then in the third, sophomore middie Jack McBride beat his man underneath and found Hull on the near post. Hull is a good compliment to Gibbons, the primary dodging threat, and junior attackman Jeff Cohen, who is comfortable on the left side.

Loyola shooting was really bad. They got stuffed at least twice, had two shots caught by defenders and had about five that didin come out of sticks cleanly and ended up looking like Sean Suisham 50 yard field goal attempt in the Super Bowl.

looked better than Harvard made the score more lopsided than it could have been. Loyola won a 15 minute stretch late in the second half in which they controlled possession and had good sequences at both ends of the field, but couldn swing the action by getting a goal.

The Greyhounds had the type of day that makes them glad it was a scrimmage, not a game. Sloppy defensive play early, a few bad breaks throughout the first three quarters and not scoring during the portion of the second and third during which they Nike Air More Uptempo Sneakers

Matt Langan is going to have a big season. After getting the Greyhounds on the board with a first quarter goal, he did a nice job operating at X for much of the day, and is dangerous turning the corner.

Harvard is a rare combination of very young with good experience. Gibbons is their main senior contributor, and they got probably 80% of their minutes from sophomores and juniors. That said, this is a year for the Crimson to take advantage because Gibbons presence as a scary good dodger (he ran past Loyola Steve Dircks on a question mark that really displayed his impressive speed) will be tough to replace.

The midfield will probably end up being productive, but will start slow as guys take on new roles and is a bit hodgepodged right now. Grad student Chris Basler is the leader, but is a two way guy that doesn put up big offensive numbers. Graduate transfer Chris Palmer brings energy but is still finding a role. Junior Pat Byrnes is slick, but as to take on a bigger role. Comer looks like he end up being the big shooter from the topside of the offense.

Harvard was a good face off team in 2010, winning 52.6% and ranking No. 23 in DI, but Loyola was among the best as John Schiavone (who missed some time in the preseason, but played Saturday) helped the Greyhounds finish No. 3 last year by winning 59% of his draws. Alex White and Andrew Parchman return and will take draws this season, but Wojcik let freshman Gabe Mendola take all of the Crimson draws. I lost track, but after winning the first two, I estimate Mendola won about 50% of the 19 draws on the afternoon. He thick and physical, as a freshman, and good at turning draws into scrums.

Junior Kevin Vaughn, who listed as an attackman but played a lot of midfield, looked like Harvard best dodging threat from up top. He comfortable going down the right alley and coming back to the middle of the field, and is a dangerous duel threat. He scored Harvard first goal of the day on a high to high shot that beat Loyola keeper Jake Hagelin. Sophomore Ryan Stevens and junior Terry White both had good days, as well, making things happen from the midfield.

7 Scrimmage Win over Loyola

The Greyhounds played without senior middie Eric Lusby (knee) and sophomore attackman Mike Sawyer (concussion). Their lack of depth showed early when it looked like the Greyhounds, who came out flat, needed a spark to shake things up, but didn have anywhere to turn.

Sophomore goalie Harry Krieger has settled into the Crimson goalie job nicely. He finished with about 12 stops while letting in six goals, and his best save of the day was probably on former MIAA rival Pat Fanshaw, when Krieger tracked a crosscrease pass from pipe to pipe and caught Fanshaw shot.

New coach Chris Wojcik had to be happy with the start his team got off to, building out leads of 4 0 and 7 2 before the Greyhounds clawed their way back after halftime, ending the scrimmage on a four goal run as both teams started to substitute prior to a fifth quarter.

The Crimson visited Baltimore in a matchup that was probably scheduled as the result of Greyhound coach Charley Toomey friendship with former Harvard coach John Tillman, who left for Maryland over the summer.
